PLA 3.0 RC3 Released

  • PLA Development

PLA 3.0 RC3 is finally available for download.

This beta expires at the end of May but hopefully 3.0 final will be out before then.

The following list is the only outstanding issues that I know:

  • Report Options don't accurately represent the options you have enabled.
  • Restore the link on the Most Requested Domains report. Thanks Tony
  • Update the help file.
  • Package the final product in an installable file.
  • Minor component upgrades.

Some have wondered about what happened to the CSV reports in PLA 3.0. PLA no longer generates them in 3.0 but all is not lost. Simply right click somewhere on the report and click "Export to Microsoft Excel". Follow the instruction on the web query wizard and get your spreadsheet. This seemed to work better that the way PLA did it in the first place.

I think PLA 3.0 is ready for release but will pay close attention to problems, comments, etc to make further determination of when PLA 3.0 will be released.

Testers feel free to register and post your comments about the beta in this thread as it will be easier for me to keep up with and so that we can get community involvement. You can also email us or use the contact form to send them to me.

Report alignment - When displayed on the screen

Submitted by stevetownsend on Mon, 04/07/2008 - 03:56.

Hi,

Is there anyway of getting the reports to be left aligned when displayed on the screen...?

When you view, all the web addresses are centre aligned which makes it difficult to see the domains as you are having to scroll left and right for each line!! - Printing is fine, its all left aligned :)

Thanks

Left aligning will make your issue somewhat better but what I have been wanting to implement was truncating for the URL field. This seems a good enough reason as any to try it out. :-)

Look and see what I came up with...

You will be able to hover over the link to get the full URL text. The truncating will not affect the link functionality itself.

Let me know what you think and I will try to add it in to PLA 3.0.

Thanks

Left Alignment

That looks great!! Left alignment would make viewing the report in the HTML format a lot easier to read.
